Universal Time

edited June 2019 in General support

I think it would be good if there was an option to select Universal Time (UTC) for the timezone. This is different from "Europe/London" since UTC does not include daylight saving's time (DST) in the summer. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC

Not sure who would actually use this but I just added it to the support build.

  • Cool! Thanks! Universal Time is useful as an international time standard, to avoid the ethnocentrism of using any particular local time (which may or may not be using daylight savings). In particular, UTC is frequently found in computing (e.g. UTC is usually the default time for Linux servers) and in science (particularly astronomy---most astronomical events are given in UTC).
