Reinstall Issue

I have had a ZenPhoto site hosted on GoDaddy for four years. I installed it from within the GoDaddy control panel. It worked fine for a few months, then I had an issue with the album names displaying an indecipherable string of text. I contacted the forum and was told that some file in the program must have been corrupted. I tried to resolve the issue several times but could not resolve it. This weekend I contacted GoDaddy to see if they could reinstall the software, but in deleting the installation, they also deleted my database. So I tried to install by myself but each time when trying to run the install it returns a message saying 'A configuration error occurred.' I have deleted and reuploaded to install files twice, but in each instance, I get the same response. I then created another folder and tried uploading it to the new folder. Install starts but then does not allow me to enter the mysqli database info, and several PHP errors are saying that PHP is not available. I have PHP enabled, and there is a mysqli database created.

Am I missing something when I deleted the installation files? Are there hidden files that are not readily evident? The tech support at GoDaddy is of no help in trying to resolve the issue. Their advice is to reinstall the software, but that didn't work either.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

If you tried to install the four year old Zenphoto version it is likely not be compatible with the current PHP version.

Otherwise we will need the actual error messages to help.

  • My website host was taken over by GoDaddy, and I've had intermittent "minor" issues (which never happened before) since, including spurious tags in the database (with a long and random text string). And PHP includes that don't... Currently, on the hunt for another host.

If the webspace/server is not properly working at all, we probably cannot help currently. Best you return when you found another host.

  • acrylian,

    The site is thurmontfirst.com

The first error appears when I go to thurmontfrist.com. It reads 'Site is undergoing an update. Please return later.' This is two lines of text at the top left of the screen.

The second error appears when I go to thurmontfirst.com/zp-core/admin.php. It reads, "A configuration error occurred. Please return later.' This message appears in a red-lined box at the top center of the screen.

I am trying to install the latest version.

I see that you offer paid assistance. Would you be willing to have a look at this for me?

That ist he maintenance mode that is enabled after running setup (see install info on our site). Login via yourdomain.com/zp-core/admin.php to disable that. If the site actually works of course.

For the other error best review the error log you find in zp-data of the install (via FTP).

I have to remove the paid support note from the site sadly because I cannot offer paid support to private persons outside of Germany (thank bureaucracy for that). We sadly have to try this here.
