Enable user name login field

I just updated to 1.2 (congrats on a milestone release!) and am unable to get the "Enable user name login field" to work. I check the box and click save; however, when the page reloads, the box is no longer checked.

I assume this option requires all users to login?

    Please upgrade to the nightly build (but wait for the 2008-09-09 one). Or, check to see if you have a folder zp-core/locales/en_US. If not, create it.

    In answer to your questions: all this option does is place a field for the user name in the login form so that you can have both user and password required. To actually require same, you need to fill in those items as well.

    I've downloaded and installed zenphotos today.
    every things worked well.
    my only problem is that i'm not able to get the "Enable user name login field" on.
    but my problem is slightly different than carlyman's:
    the check box is checked, (and i can't uncheck it(i mean if i save, it come back checked)) and i don't see any login/password field anywhere else than
    /zp-core/admin-index.php.
    I've a folder called zp-core/locale/en_US

    Have you tried the nightly build? Are you using a language other than US English? Are there any other fields which will not save properly?

    i'm not using nighty build, i was using HTTP_CLIENT_REQUEST language (french in my case), and didn't see any other fields date don't save properly.
    after your answer, i tried change language to en_US and the field is know saved properly but i still don't see any login field on index.php
