Removing unwanted comments - tosca - 2013-08-17

I'm still in development stage, but already getting unwanted comments (spams).

  1. how come I can see them only 1 at a time in the admin, so I have to remove them one by one? Is there a parameter somewhere to display more comments per page?
  2. is there a way to block comments, either any comments for the time being, or comments from unregistered visitors? or apply moderation before they are published?

Thanks for helping.

1a) There are bulk actions
1b) No option to change the comments per page available.

  1. Options > plugins > comment_form plus various spam filter plugins

Thanks for your answer.

1a) yes, I saw the bulk actions. But I don't understand how it can work as only one comment is displayed per page.

  1. I'll have a look at the plugins. You mean there is no possibility to block every comment? If I want to deactivate them momentarily, I have to remove to comment form from album and image pages?

NB: that's not the first time I've seen this on ZP forum, but I didn't receive any notification of an answer to my thread.

  1. Sorry, rarely use comments actually. There is an option on the coment_form plugin for the comments per page (but you should have spotted that yourself).

  2. trivialspam plugin

Unless you subscribe to the forum or at least a topic's RSS feed you will not get notifications.

  1. I see this option, but it seems to work for the foreground, not for the admin page. Or am I mistaken? Currently, it is set up to 10/page, but I see only one comment on the comments admin page.

  2. I can see my initial message in the RSS feed I subscribed to. But none of the answers.

  1. Right sorry, it is even written besides it. I rarely use comments so I didn't pay atention. But in any case there should be more comments per page on the backend. I think 10-15 is the default, would have to look at the code. And it is for me on my install.

  2. Just tried with this topic and I see all entries. Try the general rss feed, that for sure contains everything.

  1. I had the same problem with extensions (only one/page) and was sure it was not like that in previous versions. I discovered a couple of hours ago there was an option in the admin!
I was looking for something alike for comments, but didn't find anything.

  2. Will subscribe to the general feed to see whether it's different.

  1. Surprisingly, all the messages appeared in the message feed as soon as I subscribed to the whole subforum feed!
But also very surprising is the update time is completely different between both feeds: in the general feed, the messages appear to have been posted (or updated) 8 hours ago!

  1. Best open a ticket. Since my colleague rarely uses comments we probably never thought of that. But it really is hardcoded to show more than one.

  2. No idea, since it works for me. The feed displays the time of the server of course. For it is around 8 hours back.

If you don't monitor changes, the support build now has a setting for comments per page for the backend, too.

I downloaded the master.zip but have been unable to unzip it; I tried twice, with 2 different tools, but the result is the same. Could you check the file is not corrupted.

Thanks.

Both the zip and the tar ball work for me using OS X's built in tool.

Zip file works fine for me.
