Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - nbk484 - 2007-02-26 Hey admins, i know you're tired of this topic, hopefully this will be the one final answer that ends them all. On my website I uploaded them via ftp. In the next version, is it possible that there can be an 'ftp upload' directory system and it manually configures and transfers the files there? Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - nbk484 - 2007-02-26 I think i fixed it. So through zenphoto, i'd have to create a directory and manually ftp upload the pictures in that folder under the albums directory? if that's the case, could there be a more user-friendly option of creating an album through zenphoto? Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - nbk484 - 2007-02-26 now i'm pondering, then I manually recreated all the folders via the zenphoto cpanel, and it started working again. so in the future will it be like this when I have multiple photo galleries? i have over 1000 picture files already. Sounds like a permission problem to me, and your FTP client is the only problem there. Make sure the images you upload are world readable and the directories world executable. That permission is 744 ( Files need to be readable by the web server user (which has few privileges) and directories need to be listable, which is the execute flag. You can usually give those permissions in the FTP client after you upload, or set defaults somewhere in its preferences. The most important one is the directory execute permission, which is probably the only problem you're having. Get that straight and everything should work. I could probably try to fix this if I find the permissions are incorrect... that'd be a good addition I think. Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - nbk484 - 2007-02-26 so the folder that i upload via ftp should be 755 or should the album folder be 755? sounds like alot of work, Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - trisweb - 2007-02-26 Makes more sense to me to put them where you want them and have Zenpoto deal with the permissions, so I'll try to do that. It's not a lot of work, it's just permissions, and you just need to set the defaults better... The uploaded folders should be 755, the file permissions look fine if they default to 705... So I upload using SSH, and set the file permissions according to the above, but the pictures won't show up. Only a icon saying, "Image not found". But the image files are there. I've disabled/enabled the Option/Gallery/mod rewrite again but with no luck. Anyone who can give a hint or two? I would appreciate it very much. /Lars Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - sbillard - 2008-07-15 Is it possible that the images you are uploading are large? Sometimes servers do not have enough memory to process large images. If you can provide a link to your site it would help in analysis. It is also possible that the images do not have the proper access permissions after the upload. Not sure if web host/ISP has any bearing at their end. Maybe notation on upload page of what settings are required for images/directories if doing manual FTP upload so we always have a place to refer to, just in case Thumbnails not showing up via ftp upload. - macalter - 2008-07-15 Chilifrei64, Moderator: gee, never knew we were being moderated.
