Copyright issues - Powered by Zen Photo - kottobass - 2007-11-30

Hi, I am a software developer working for a small startup company doing applications development. I like Zen Photo and considering integrating it to one of our applications. However, we do not want to have the 'Powered by ZenPhoto' link at the bottom. I understand that is against the copyright rules, as credit needs to be given back to the creators of this wonderful album. However, what would it take to remove it, without going against the copyright rules? Do I need to pay a fee?

No, you will not need to pay (although donations are always accepted), but what you can do instead is put something on your about page or another relevant page. Also what you can do is put a html comment in your source that just says where you received the software.

That's perfectly fine, you never need to keep the notice, even though we appreciate it if you can.

Zenphoto is licensed under the GPL, which means you can do pretty much anything you want with it and we can't stop you ;-) We respect that freedom very much, so feel free to enjoy Zenphoto in whatever way is most useful to you.

Thank you for your answers. Indeed if/when we turn profitable, we shall look into returning the gesture :~) Keep up the good work!

If you mean on your theme, obviously you have to modify it. Where depends on which.

As noted above we appreciate if you keep it. After all you use a free tool so it is a nice gesture to credit it.
