When displaying the large image, I want to remove the option to click for download. Basically I dont want the user to be able to download the image. How do I remove this?

It's an option in the admin options.

The admin option allows the pop-up box not to appear to request download, but you can still click on the image and get a larger version. I dont want this happening at all.

In that case you have to remove the full image link from your theme's image.php.

In tonight's nightly build there will be an option to disable the full image entirely.
