Splitting up a large album - syrupcore - 2008-07-06

Hi,

I have a single album with way to many photos in it. And it's growing - it's my new daughter, what do you expect? :)

Is there a smart way to break my one big old album up into multiple sub albums by date? I'd basically like to switch it to Jan 08, Feb 08, Mar 08... with thumbs and pretty urls and all that good zp stuff.

Simple thought was to just fire up filezilla and make me some new folders in the albums directory and start pushing files around but I fear I'll blow things up. Some one care to hold a nervous hand and tell me if this is a bad idea?

If it's bad, is there another way?

Thanks for any thoughts,
Will

Moving images between albums isn't implemented yet, but it is in the works. See post:

You can move files around via FTP, but you'll lose all of your metadata that isn't stored in EXIF.

Thanks krainbolt. I wonder if there's a programattic way to write that data from the database into the jpg's EXIF? hello google...

No, sorry there is no way to update the image EXIF/IPTC data from the database.
