I am using zenphoto 1.2.4 with php5-5.2.9

I guess we need to know when exactly this happened.

after installation of zenphoto I tried to upload the first images into a newly reated album with the admin account. This error message came up directly after the attemp uloading one image to the server.

We can only guess. Maybe the picture was quite large and your server choked on processing it?
