When I try to enter the comments section of admin, either via the tab or by selecting » Edit or delete comments I get a blank screen with the number 35 in the top left hand corner. Any ideas as to why this is or how to fix it? I need to access it to delete over 1000 spam comments. I was in the process of deleting them when it started to do this. It first did it when i tried to view all the comments. Then later, after I had deleted a few pages of them, whenever I tried to enter the comments section.

Please review your server's error log. Is it that site that you linked in your profile? Then I can only recommend to upgrade, 1.1.6 is not supported anymore.

That depends on your host. You may be able to do that via the backend of your webspace or as files directly on your webspace. I suggest to ask your host about if unsure.
