I'm new at zenphoto and I must admit I' pretty impressed at how easy it is. I have a question I want to have two copies of zenphoto one on a laptop for development and another a live instance. How easy and what do I need to do to move it across?

You have several options depending....

First, install the two copies in different folders. If you want totally separate installs, you are done.

If you want to share the pictures between the installs you will have to modify the zp-config.php file and change the album location statements. There is a comment block describing the options.

Thanks for the reply. Just checking I meant the live one would be on another machine not on the same machine.
Would it make any difference if my laptop is running ubuntu 9.04 and my other machien is windows xp. xp machine is running wamp and ubuntu running lampp. I wouldn't have thought it would but not sure about the permissions or how I would go about moving it over from laptop to other machine.

Generally Zenphoto is file system based regarding images and albums. So you can basically just copy the albums folder over. If you want your image descriptions and other data to travel with it the easiest is to assign that data as EXIF data to the images itself.
Or use the database backup/restore facility.
