syntax error when uploading - erika_conn - 05-03-2010

It's when I'm in WYSIWYG that I'm having the problem. I was working on creating a page using WYSIWYG, clicked on the picture icon to insert an image. I have to say it looked a little strange what with the root thing and all. But there was a place I could click to upload from the computer but when I did, I got a syntax error.

Any ideas?

and ther error you got was...?

Exactly that:

Oh, this is the first window I see.

I hope that helped.

Well, no. The image is too small to be useful. Why can't you just list the error? Would that be too much to ask, or do you need us to work for your support?

The error says SyntaxErroryntax error

That's all. I know, there should be more

Uploading photos, otherwise, no problem, just with the wysiwyg

That file manager is an basically untouched third party script that sometimes throws this error I could swear we had a troubleshooting entry but seems I am wrong... But it was topic on the forum before. Will try to find it.

If I remember correctly it was related to the zp-core/zp-extensions/tiny_mce/plugins/ajaxfilemanager/sessions directory. You have to check the permissions on that.

Found it but that might be something else: http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=4399#post-26030

I just tried and uploading seems to work for me. The first window you saw is normal. It shows the content of the root "uploaded" folder of your installation (using that manager is not about uploading images to the gallery!).

I changed all those files and folders as suggested,

 1. tiny_mce / plugins / session - Folder (777)
 2. tiny_mce / plugins / session - gc_counter.ajax.php - File (777)
 3. tiny_mce / plugins / session - gc_log.ajax.php.php - File (777)

And

 1. tiny_mce / plugins / ajaxfilemanager / session - Folder (777)
 2. tiny_mce / plugins / ajaxfilemanager / session - gc_counter.ajax.php - File (777)
 3. tiny_mce / plugins / ajaxfilemanager / session - gc_log.ajax.php.php - File (777)

to 777 and now the Admin on the top right of my page has disappeared and I can't sign in.

Also, my tree isn't set up the same as others have said. eg:
/zp-core/plugins/tiny_mce/plugins/ajaxfilemanager/inc/config.tinymce.php
chmod -R 777 zp-core/plugins/tiny_mce/plugins/ajaxfilemanager/session

Mine is ...../zp-core/zp-extensions/tiny_mce/plugins/ajaxfilemanager etc. That's what I downloaded.

Does that make a difference?

Actually that should not log you out. Try to login again.

That thread is older and before Zenphoto 1.2.8 the zp-extensions folder was named plugins.

I know it makes no sense. Maybe it's something else. You know how it is with computers. You change something or do something and it shows up as a problem next week. By that time you can't remember what you did.

Can't log back in. The login has disappeared. Is there a back way in?

syntax error when uploading - acrylian - 06-03-2010

Sure you can login: Type/admin or /zp-core/admin.php

syntax error when uploading - erika_conn - 06-03-2010

Thanks. I got logged in and found that if I upload a picture to Photobucket, get the url from there and enter it into wysiwyg, I can successfully download it. That's a lot of steps when I could get it right from my computer.

This brings me to the next question - The image in question is 600 x 476px. However, when I enter the dimensions into wysiwyg, the picture is distorted and, well, ugly. It wants to make it 319 x 253px. As you can see, it's quite small but I wanted it big enough to make a statement in "About".

Sorry, as said I can't reproduce the "syntax error" you got. Maybe hte filename was contains special chars.

I upload a picture to Photobucket, get the url from there and enter it into wysiwyg, I can successfully download it.
That is not really downloading but pasting an external url. You know the difference, do you?

Generally, the WYSIWYG editor is named TinyMCE btw and not our product. It normally does not size any images. You can do that manually. Please look at TinyMCE's own site for info about http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/

Sorry about improper use of how I was able to get a picture into tinymce. What I tried to explain was, while in tinymce, wysiwyg, the only way i can insert a picture is if I use the url. The picture icon gives me a syntax error. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.

I think I'd better go to the tinymce site. Thanks. I will let you know what they say.

syntax error when uploading - acrylian - 07-03-2010

Well, there is no real "improper" use. If it works for you it is kind of proper. As said I sadly can't reproduce the error. What browser are you using?

Btw, there is also the "zp" button to insert images from the gallery itself.

syntax error when uploading - erika_conn - 07-03-2010

I'm using IE8. What's that about a zp button?

I'm on the tinymce site and hopefully get the problem resolved there.

syntax error when uploading - acrylian - 07-03-2010

Please see here, it's only available on Zenpage pages and articles:

syntax error when uploading - sbillard - 07-03-2010

I have just tried the upload using IE8. I get no syntax errors. So it must be something specific to your installation.

syntax error when uploading - erika_conn - 07-03-2010

Really sbillard? You're probably right. i wonder where I screwed up? I tried posting on tinymce but I guess it's not a very active site. No response.
