I have had this come up as an error message when trying to install. I'm not sure that it is a ZP issue or more to do with my PC. Either way it has me flummoxed.
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

Most likely the server path to your MySQL is not configured properly in Zenphoto. You will need to ask your provider for the proper server name and give that to Zenphoto.
