I have an image published in an album that is unpublished.
This image is part of a dynamic album.
However, this picture is not visible in dynamic album.
Is this normal?

Remember the behavior: unpublished items show only to zp users with the appropriate rights. Content of unpublished albums is itself unpublished.

However you might be interested in a new feature of the 1.4.3 release. Just to address this, dynamic albums will have a new option--to return unpublished content.

And they show if you access the unpublished album directly of course, too. Our sponsors page is such a case (unpublished album with unpublished subalbums but published images).

waiting for 1.4.3, I found a workaround :

• Creates a first album unpublished
• Creates a 2nd album released in the first album
• Load your pictures in this 2nd album

since the first album was not released, you can not access it directly from the gallery.
as the 2nd album is released, the album clearly show dynamic images from this album.

There is actually a checkbox on dynamic album creation that lets you select to return unpublished items as well. I could not find any place to later change that so that might be an obmission. Please open a ticket.

Apologies for revisiting an old problem but I'm having a similar one:

New installation of Zenphoto version 1.4.11

I have created a Published dynamic album called "nature" which has as its search string

words=Nature&searchfields=tags_exact&inalbums=1&inimages=1&unpublished=1

I have a static album which I have uploaded with FTP called nature1 and which is Unpublished. All the images in it are tagged with "Nature".

If I view the album "Nature" as a non-logged-in user, it has no images.

I thought of trying some changes in the search string to see if I could make it work but that field in the Album page seems to be read-only.

Problem partially solved: I had used the "bulk action" in the "nature1" album to set the tag... but hadn't noticed that it didn't work! Setting the tags individually worked & made the images visible in the album "Nature", as required.

Now I'll go & see if I can find out why the bulk tag setting didn't work but if anyone has any ideas where would be a good place to start looking I'd be grateful...

I sometimes get that too. Then I use the Refresh album metadata button on the album edit page.
