something is bothering me: by default, there is a "uploaded" folder in the site root (used by elFinder) ... but how to transfer files to this folder without using ftp?

You can use the elFinder plugin to do so. But you can also enable the class-anyfile plugin to use almost any file in the gallery itself in for example unpublished albums. That's what we do on our site. We actually don't use the uploaded folder at all.

(drag and drop, permissions in the profile of the user ...)
