Zenphoto is wonderful: easy, simple, fast. It might be nice to submit a debian package (zen's popularity will get increased)

What I like about zen is:
You have a folder with your albums - Zen doesn't mess with it
Putting new pictures and albums is just as easy as drag and dropping your files in the album directory
