I've searched but cannot find, step-by-step instructions on how to integrate slideshow.php with a default installation of Zenphoto. I've put slideshow.php, slideshow.css, and slideshow-controls.png in the gallery/themes/default folder. I found the procedural file description of slideshow.php here: http://www.zenphoto.org/documentation/zenphoto/_plugins---slideshow.php.html
I understand that "jQuery plugin Cycle" ( http://http://www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle/ ) or "Flowplayer" ( http://flowplayer.org ) are required to get the slideshow script to run. I haven't done anything with these or downloaded them, because putting the pieces together now is becoming nebulous based of lack of instructions.
What next? How do I install the slideshow, call the slideshow or configure the slideshow? Any help would be greatly appreciated...from A - Z.
Thanks.
The slideshow is only in the nightly build (so to speak it will be in the next official version) and there included in all standard themes. In the nightly everything is on board that you need for it. The slideshow can be configured through the admin plugin options.
So if I installed from a released version and then moved the slideshow files from the nightly build, I will not be able to configure the slideshow through admin... Is that it? If so, what's the easiest way to now get the slideshow running? Re-install zenphoto from scratch from the nightly builds?
Yep, that's it. The nightly is the development version that will become the next official version some day and undergoes of course some changes like the new plugins for example.
You can update your existing installation, too.
I am sorry, that the documentation was confusing, but since a week or so we have finally one for the official and one for the development version (nightly).
My suggestion would be to have some generic instruction or a link at the top of the user guide(s) that tells newbies like me to be sure to install the nightly build if you want to have access to all the features. You see, I stumbled on the slideshow info in the forum AFTER I had installed the official release. Then I tried to piece it together and Knew something was wrong when I didn't see the admin plug options.
On the other hand, finding and modifying things pretty darn easy and I am impressed with the simplicity. I appreciate your great work.
Well, generally the nightly is not the official version and still under development, so it's not for "real newbies" anyway...:-)
I think the titles of the now two documentations on our user guide section should be pretty clear now:
Thanks for the kind words!
