I moved the images from one album to several others. Then I wanted to delete this empty album by hitting the red cross button. Deletion failed and I had to delete the album manually by ftp.

Is this a bug or am I missing ons step in this proces?

The file secruity you have setup on your album folder will not allow zenphoto to delete it. Check the file permissions on the folders.

That same thing happened to me. Actually, when I checked all the albums only 2 of them are chmod 777, which are albums that I didn't publish. And these are the only 2 albums that I cannot delete. I don't remember setting up a file permissions for these two.
