I'm trying to add the index.php code in to a table I have on an existing html page so I can add the site's branding elements and navigation and such. What's the best (or only) way to do this?

Why don't you just style the index.php site with css to match your site's design? Or try this: http://www.zenphoto.org/2008/01/hacks/#zenphoto-as-plugin
