I am trying to use ZenPhoto as a "client viewing site" for a local photographer. In other words, I want the photographer to be able to upload folders of her clients' photos to the albums directory via FTP. Then, at her leisure, she would login as an admin to adjust the album names, organize the albums, secure the albums for her clients with usernames and passwords, and then ultimately publish the albums.

My problem is that when I drop a folder into the albmus directory, it gets auto-published.

Is there a global gallery setting to prevent albums from being auto-published?

Yes, there is the utility function "publish content" on the overview admin page.
