This is my second site. Added logoff plugin with no issues on the first site. This site having a problem. I installed the plugin and enabled the form. I set an album up with a guest ID and password. I get a message saying the user name and password is incorrect when trying to log in to this album from the home page. If I click on the album and use the log in area that comes up on that page I can log in ok. For testing I put this up:

Try logging in with user name wolf and password wolf. Doesn't work. Now click on the wolf album. Log in with same info wolf and wolf and it works. Any thoughts??

That is really strange. There is a define in the front of function-basic.php for DEBUG_LOGIN. Please change this to true and try this again. This will creat a debug log that will tell us (I hope) what is going on.

This is indicating that there is a gallery user/password different from wolf/wolf. Could you also get the log for when you successfully log in to the album then go back and visit the index page? If there is a different gallery password, then that part does not make sense,so maybe the log will tell us something.

Delete the old log before you do that test.

There are 2 admins for the site. Myself and David. Then he needs to be able to password protect each album for a client. OK I deleted to debug log. Then I went to the site and tried logging in as wolf/wolf. Below is what the new log says:

I guess I was not clear. I need you to actually log in to the album with wolf/wolf. Once you have logged in, return the the gallery index page. I need to be able to see the output from both of those to see what things look like when everything works.

Thanks for your patience. I now understand what is happening. (And feel pretty stupid for not realizing it in the first place.)

But, let me make sure I have my facts correct:

Your gallery itself is not password protected.
Your album "wolf" is protected with a guest user/password=wolf/wolf.

So, anyone can view the gallery index.php page.

But you have also placed a login form on that page. There is the rub. Guest logins are context sensitive. For instance, a if a guest attempts to log on to the index page Zenphoto will have no clue as to what album he may later wish to view. The logon context for guests loggin in from index.php will be the gallery context and the guest user/password required would be the gallery guest user/password (which your gallery does not have.)

It is not until the guest attempts to visit a particular album that we know which user/password to validate against. So when we log-on from "wolf" everything is fine. Once successfully validated, the logon is stored in a cookie. Now when we visit the gallery index we have valid credentials for the "wolf" album so we allow the thumbnail to be displayed.

So, your optons are as follows (depending on what you want to accomplish)

1. Remove the logon form from the gallery page. It is really not doing anything since everyone can view the gallery index anyway. Then guest users will need to validate when they visit protected albums.

2. Have only a gallery wide guest user/password. This presumes that any guest should be able to view any album. Then the guest can log on anywhere. (If there is no album guest user/password the credential validation reverts to the gallery.)

3. Instead of using the guest user/password for your visitors assign them zenphoto "admin" user passwords with the appropriate set of rights. The logon process first checks to see if the credentials presented are valid a zenphoto user. If so that user is logged on.

This is very odd because I have it working with the login form on another site...very confusing.

OK so 2 questions on this

1. If I remove the login form from the main page and the albums are unpublished (because they need to be not seen) how do they log in?

2. How do I move the login form up higher on the default theme?? If I keep it on there.

1. They will login when they visit the album that is protected. That page will have a logon form. Anytime a guest attempts to visit an album which is password protected and they have not logged into that album, they will be given a password form regardless of this plugin.

2. You can disable the form either by setting the plugin option or by passing a parameter in the call. The only reason for the form in your case is if you and your fellow admin want to logon from the gallery as oposed to visiting the URL /zenphoto/admin

There is clearly some difference between the sites. Perhaps you have a gallery password setup on the other site.

Nope no gallery password on the other site. Baffling!

But the problem is that all of the albums are unpublished so it just shows you a blank page with his logo when you go to it. No where for people to log in...

Not disabling the form I just want to move it up higher on the page. With the albums being unpublished there's a big white space above the login box...
