i tried to make the slideshow transparent, changed each background-color in css to transparent, it works fine with FF but not with IE 8. i'm using jquery slideshow. can u help me pls.

You did change that on the slideshow.css that each theme has?

I have no idea what IE might doing here again nor can I test it. Sorry.
