First, let me say, I downloaded the upgrade but have never installed. Suddenly, I click on my site and get ZenPhoto setup. You'll see for yourself.

What happened? Why is my site screwed? Was my site hacked?????????

Is the site hosted on Dreamhost by chance? Then it might be the "milanka" hack that some users experienced as well recently (search the forum). Check your zp-config.php file in zp-data.
