I have created a new folder using the zenphoto admin page (make new album). Then, using 'rsync' I uploaded all my JPEG photos to this directory. The directory is, by default, unpublished. Which is a feature I really like, btw. however, the album and all the photos are still visible to any unauthenticated (anonymous) user. <a title="unpublished album" href="http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/7292/unpublished.png">See a PNG of the unpublished check box</a>. There is a description of the perumtations of protected/unprotected/published/unpublishd in the user/troubleshooting guide.

But simplly, unpublished does not prevent viewing, it omits the items from menus. If you want them not available to anonomous users you must protect them.

Does it still stop robots from indexing the album? msnbot, slurp, googlebot ....

Search engine bots follow links they find. If an album is unpublished it is only viewable if someone knows the direct link. If you don't post that elsewhere no one "knows" about.
