I am using multiple languages for my gallery. I'm wondering how easy it would be to tell gallery to choose a file in a subdirectory by the same name (or something) if the user is in a certain language. I need to enable mp3 download for a file that has embedded language-specific information. Otherwise I'll just have to create a separate folder for each language if that is recommended.

The multilingual feature applies only to translations of fixed items and to content if entered in multilingual mode. But of course not to info embedded in files. So your solution would probably the way to do it.
