i need some advice for hotlink protection here
my zenphoto installation is on my subdomain (xyz.mydomain.com)

and i did edit the original zenphoto .htaccess
i add hotlink protection on the bottom of it
(following this guide http://www.htaccesstools.com/hotlink-protection/)
but its not working

do i need to add hotlink protection to root of my website folder too?

We have an entry on this on our troubleshooting guide. In any case you need to put that .htaccess file within the folder you want to protect.

ok i did some test

putting .htaccess on /albums seems not working
but putting on /albums/albums1 -> working
do you know why ?

well although its not really matter
but then every single album need .htaccess, except subalbums (/albums/albums1/subalbums) which got effect from upper folder hotlink protection

Last time I tried it did work for me for all sub folders. Did you use the example htaccess we posted on the troubleshooting?
