I want a top level album called England with sub albums London etc, the England album is just a container for the sub albums, how do I stop the one image I have imported into England to use as a thumbnail from appearing in the England album with the sub albums?

Mark it unpublished.

I had tried that, really! I think where I was going wrong was that I unticked the Publish check box for the image and pressed apply that didn't seem to work, I have just tried it pressing Reset and then Apply that seems to have done the job.
Just started a lot to catch up on.
