I've just started using the Jquery slideshow in Colorbox mode and have things set the way that i would like - only thing i can't figure out is how to open the slideshow with it not automatically scrolling through the images. Is this possible? Or is there a hack to use?

If you mean with "possible" if there is an option, no. You probably need to modify the jQuery settings. Sorry ,don't know right now if there is a option at all:
