hi,
first off, thanks for the nice and simple gallery engine, it had worked for me for almost two years without a hitch.
now after my zenphoto install had been hacked, i went on to upgrade to 1.4.2.1 as suggested.
after several failed attempts, and driving an IT friend into despair, i would appreciate if you could have a look at these error messages...
after hitting go on the setup page i get:
Warning: set_time_limit() [function.set-time-limit]: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in /www/wwwservis/.../zp-core/setup.php on line 2180
About to create tables...
Migrating lib-auth data version ==> version 3
Warning: realpath() [function.realpath]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 345060 is not allowed to access /tmp owned by uid 0 in /www/wwwservis/.../zp-core/zp-extensions/class-video/getid3/getid3.php on line 22
Done with table create!
Delete setup files
You should disable safe mode. While Zenphoto should generally work with it is actually bad practice and can cause problems. Ask your host if you don't know how or if that is possible.
Regarding setup scripts missing. You need to re-upload them as they are and should be deleted for security after installing.
hi acrylian,
thanks for getting back to me.
i did try to ask the host to disable safe mode before, but was literally told this:
"we cannot switch off safe mode, but since scripts are running under your user, they are entitled to everything they should be entitled to."
if this is as far as the host will go, is this the end of the road for me in trying the latest zenphoto install?
Generally Zenphoto should work but there are restrictions. Please also see: http://www.zenphoto.org/news/does-zenphoto-work-with-php-safe-mode-
Considering safe mode is already marked deprecated with the current PHP version 5.3 we surely won't work on fixing anything in that regard....

There are lots of proper hosts out there...
