Creating album with owner/group issues

Hello,

I installed zenphoto today on my Ubuntu 10/Plesk 10 VPS.
I first created a subdomain and, after unpacking, I ftp-ed all folders/files using the correct user to the correct folder.

One of the messages I see on setup is: Setup could not change the folder permissions from loose (0777) to strict (0755). You will have to set the permissions manually. See the Troubleshooting guide for details on Zenphoto permissions requirements.
This was after I changed the permissions to 777 upon 'request' of the script.

However, when changing the permissions to 775 or 755 creating an album (and other stuff) does not work at all.
I don't have this issue with other applications.

Even stranger, when I create a new album it does not 'inherit' the owner/group of the parent folder but it get owner 33 and group 33 (never seen that before).
As a result, creating a subfolder in there does not work and adding photo's does not work either :(

Anybody any idea why this happens?

Thanks in advance,

Marcel

  • This is a configuration issue with your server's users vs apache scripts. Sorry, but I do not know how to fix these issues. Perhaps someone else on the forum does.
  • OK, I understand.

Still, I hope somebody can help me.

The funny thing is that all user rights are really ok.
I also have other scripts running reading and writing files to a server folder without any issue so that makes this even stranger :(

    Thanks anyway,

    Marcel
  • I asked my hosting provider about this and, after reading their FAQ they have about the subject, I found that the solution is changing the setup of PHP so that it runs as a FAST-CGI application.

    That solved the issue:)
  • Thanks for the update. Hopefully someone else will benefit from your research.
