Video working in some album and not in others

I am wondering if anyone can lead me in how to resolve a problem.

I know there is to be only one plugin media player active, and I get the same result with either one I use.

I have 11 albums, with many sub-albums underneath those. In 5 of the albums, the video's (trailers) play fine within their sub-album, in the other 6 albums with their sub-albums, none of the videos play.

I receive the error 200 Stream Not Found etc.

I do know the characters NOT to use in file or directory names. I am only using a dash and that doesn't seem to make a difference between what works and what doesn't. Same thing with the video names. Some do have underscores, others have spaces but that, too, does not seem to make a difference.

I cannot see how this makes any differene, but the way I have the directories arranged (manually), the first 3 albums work fine and the last two albums work fine. The 6 in the middle to not play a video with either player plugin. All images are working fine. Also, a few audio files do and do not play just like the videos in that directory.

Everything has been uploaded via FTP, which I have been doing for many years.

Are there any ideas as to what to look for next.

Thank you.

Check the encodings. If using the Flash fallback of the player it does not take some encoding settings. Use standard resolutions and frameratest and such, same for audio codecs within the videos.

Not that flowplayer3 is a flash only player (and will be not be official in 1.4.5 anymore) and jPlayer is hTML5 with flash fallback. You need to make sure to use the right formats. But as above these formats are containers that can contain different codecs.

Just a follow up to tell how I corrected the problem but have no idea why it worked.

I moved the non-working videos into sub-albums where known working video were placed. All of the video began working then.

I subsequently logged in through FTP and just changed the name( one at a time) of the non-working video sub-albums. In this case, I renamed the album to ztest. All the videos in all the sub-albums began working. Once I was satisfied, I changed the Album names back to their original name and the video's continued to work, where they had not before. I am not talking about just a few video's, I am talking hundreds. Now all 11 major albums and their sub-albums are working fine.

I will eventually have over 500 sub-albums and over 60,000 images.

I do not know why the changing of the names (which changed a pathing name) corrected the issue but it worked.

Hope this helps someone else. It was a head scratcher.

We have no clue either. It could have been some sort of db vs file system mismatch, maybe with some Server cache involved. Very rough guess though....
