Support for 3rd Party Solution - Watermarking in Default Theme

Hello - Can you please help me with the steps I need to follow to place my watermark in the plugins folder of the Deafault theme of v 1.4.1.6 of Zenfolio?

I see from the forum that uploading my watermark is possible and that I should be able to do so by going to zp-core/plugins/watermarks/, but that is not accessible to me - I receive a message indicating "Object not found."

Can you please help me with the steps I need to take to locate the folder where I can upload the watermark and the steps to upload the watermark? Many thanks!!

How did you try to upload?

You need to be able to access you folders/files throug FTP.
(or some filemanager in your host's control panel)
  • I did upload the PNG file of the watermark. But it appears to be in my albums. Can you please help me with how to access the folder/files through FTP? I'm unfamiliar with FTP.
  • Actually, I did just upload the PNG file to the control panel folder on my webhosting site. Are you able to guide me as to what steps I need to take to have Zenphoto access the file?

You need to contact your host about the FTP credentials. Then your host's admin tools have also a FTP tool (ask the host) or you need a desktop FTP client. Depending on what computer you use there are several free or costly ones.
  • Thank you. I have Cyberduck, which, if I recall, is an FTP solution? Are you able to guide me with the interface between that and Zenphoto?

Yes, from the backend(admin) you can only upload to albums.

What you need to do is install an FTP client (program) on your computer. For example FileZilla (`http://filezilla-project.org/download.php`). There are lots of others too.

I'm sorry but then you'll have to do some learning.

Cyberduck is a proper FTP client. I cannot help with that as I am not using that one. I am sure they have some guide on the Cyberduck page as well. It is actually not that hard but I fear "teaching" this exceeds a little the purpose of this forum.

If you use FTP you actually sort of bypass Zenphoto as you access your server directly.
  • I understand, thank you. I will work on learning Cyberduck and go from there.

Once I've mastered that, are you able to tell me the steps I need to take within Zenphoto (if any) to ensure that my watermark is accessible within the Zenphoto plugins folder?

    That's the easy part ;-)
  • Hi Robyn

I use Cyberduck, which I have found to be excellent and easy to use, and have used the watermarking feature so I could help if you get stuck. See how you go :)
  • Hello - Thank you. I have uploaded the custom watermark PNG file using Cyberduck, given it a unique name, see it in the plugins/watermarks folder, and cleared the image cache, BUT am still not seeing it as an option for me to select as my watermark in the "Options" "Image" tab. Can you please guide me as to what am I doing wrong?
  • Everything you describes sounds correct, so the only thing would be to re-check the files to be sure that they are indeed located where you think you put them.

Also try clearing your browser cache in case it has made a copy of the old page without the watermarks. Server caching could do this as well.

If all is correct the watermark will appear in the drop-down list.
  • Thank you! I've got it and it works! :)
