New PHP Gallery Seen On Digg

I saw this gallery software built with PHP on digg tonight. It definately looks feature rich but lacks any kind of community and updates since September. I think this might be worth a look for the developers as many of the features of this gallery are already laid out in Phormer....but it is ugly as hell (IMO). Take a look and hopefully it can inspire some creativity with ZP!

  • Am I missing something? I can't see a link anywhere

Looks good, a little more rigidly laid out than zenphoto, but it has some good features. I'll download it and play around. If it's open source, it might be a useful integration...
  • Hehe I do that all the time :p I'm checking it out now, not to switch but maybe pull some things out and put them into my zenphoto, I doubt anyone will make one better than zenphoto trisweb :)
  • Right on, the flow of zenphoto cannot be matched. All I wanted from this was to possibly have the people on this board that know php pretty well a source for inspiration for future mods.

i was using minigal2 for my gallery, but after rybber stoped development i switched to zenphoto. though i think that MG2 is great gallery, it does not need SQL and have support for skins, translations, it works in safe_mode enviroment and so on...

but when the developmnet was stopped i was looking for something esle and i found ZenPhoto which is great for me. Thank Tris for your support and hard work.

btw if you want to make some research on MG2 here is link: http://minigal.dk
  • Yeah that Phormer gallery is too stuck in it's ways. To edit a feature (like remove the whole "stories" function) there is a lot to be edited (as it's integrated into categories loops), it's not worth the trouble.
What I love about zenphoto is it's so easy to edit, it just has beautiful PHP.
Sure one could edit the Phormer and get it running perfectly, it does have some great features I'd love to see in zenphoto, but you'd have to modify it so much that future official updates would be out of the question. For zenphoto I only have a few lines of code backed up before installing an update due to the big reliance on themes. It's bliss!
  • I think the flat file db idea is horrible or using xml to store the data instead of a db is bad as well. Thats not what xml is supposed to be used for.
