Hello. I have tried everything I can think of with user management and failed. I have a gallery set up to show customers the images of new products. We also use the gallery internally to show images internally products in development. We do not want any of our customers to see any of the albums, subalbums, or images of products in development.
the gallery currently has something like this...
gallery>album_1>subalbum_1.1
gallery>album_1>subalbum_1.2
gallery>album_1>subalbum_1.3
gallery>album_2>subalbum_2.1
gallery>album_2>subalbum_2.2
gallery>album_2>subalbum_2.3
and so on.
I have set up album_1 for one specific customer.
call the customer user_customer_1
user_customer_1 will be:
1) required to log in.
2) able to see album_1 (and only album_1) when he first logs in
3) able to navigate all sub albums and images within album_1
4) able to post comments to all images with album_1 and its subalbums
5) unable to edit, delete, upload, or manage anything.
6) unaware that the gallery has anything other than album_1
I have spent hours trying combinations of things. It would seem that in the admin console under users
user_customer_1
that I would check
Rights>Albums>view full images
Rights>gallery>post comments
Rights>general> nothing checked
Managed albums>album_1>checked
Managed albums>album_1>managed>unchecked
This does not work.
How do I achieve this ?
Thank you so much for your help.

You have also not said what "This does not work" means.
1) <<<I do not understand what option is Managed albums>album_1>managed>unchecked. >>>>
In admin>user you can set several options with check marks
In the right hand column you have several section
Rights:
>Albums
>Gallery
>General
Below that you have a section
>Managed albums (with a list of your top level albums below.
Each top level album has a check box
and some top level albums have a second check box with the an icon that looks like a pencil and folder.
at the bottom of that is the same icon with the work "edit" next to it which seems to be a legend telling you this user can this user can edit the album... which leads me to belive the the other check box means that this user can only view (not edit). (I mistakenly used the word "manage" in place of "edit" in my question. I think I know understand that checking one box means the user can upload images to this album... checking the other means they can also edit?
2)"this does not work" means it did not achieve the result I was after. (user_customer_1 could not access items within album_1 nor its subalbums and nor images with in)
I have tried all different combinations of check boxes in the user rights sections. None have "worked"
I can not achieve the result I desire, which is:
user_customer_1 will be:
1) required to log in.
2) able to see album_1 (and only album_1) when he first logs in
3) able to navigate all sub albums and images within album_1
4) able to post comments to all images with album_1 and its subalbums
5) unable to edit, delete, upload, or manage anything.
6) unaware that the gallery has anything other than album_1
What settings are required to achieve that result?
Thank you very much for your work.
--jpgus.
Then certainly he should not be able to edit it.
All this works correctly. Visit
http://testalbum-2.sbillard.org/zenphoto/zp-core/admin-edit.php
user = xyzzy
password = xyzzy
1) <<< Do I understand correctly then that you have the edit checkbox unchecked> "albums>album_1>managed>unchecked. >>>>" >>>>
Yes the box is unchecked and indeed user_customer_1 can not edit the album... but user_customer_1 can not even see/view the album.
Thank you for your sample album "clocks"
This seems to be what I want.
Please let me know what settings you used to achieve that result.
What checkboxes to check under users section for
user xyzzy
What settings to set for albums section for clocks.
What setting to set for subalbums under clocks. (if any)
What settings to set for images with clocks and clocks sub-albums. (if any)
Thanks again.
