Hey admins, i know you're tired of this topic, hopefully this will be the one final answer that ends them all.
On my website
URL REMOVED (can you remove the url later? thx) the thumbnails aren't showing up.
I uploaded them via ftp.
I'm using version 1.0.7.
In the next version, is it possible that there can be an 'ftp upload' directory system and it manually configures and transfers the files there?
Comments
I created a directory through zenphoto and uploaded a test file, then i deleted the testfile and ftp uploaded the pictures in that directory.
So through zenphoto, i'd have to create a directory and manually ftp upload the pictures in that folder under the albums directory?
if that's the case, could there be a more user-friendly option of creating an album through zenphoto?
like manage album, create new album?
because i was on version 1.0.6 and I had temporarily setup a test gallery.
it was working fine then i upgraded it to version 1.0.7 and it stopped working after the upgrade.
then I manually recreated all the folders via the zenphoto cpanel, and it started working again. so in the future will it be like this when I have multiple photo galleries?
will i have to go back and recreate all the galleries and re-transfer all the files to those galleries?
i have over 1000 picture files already.
Sounds like a permission problem to me, and your FTP client is the only problem there. Make sure the images you upload are *world readable* and the directories *world executable*. That permission is 744 (`-rwxr--r--`) for files and 755 (`-rwxr-xr-x`) for directories.
Files need to be readable by the web server user (which has few privileges) and directories need to be listable, which is the execute flag. You can usually give those permissions in the FTP client after you upload, or set defaults somewhere in its preferences.
The most important one is the directory execute permission, which is probably the only problem you're having. Get that straight and everything should work.
I could probably try to fix this if I find the permissions are incorrect... that'd be a good addition I think.
and the image files should be 744 and not default, 705?
sounds like alot of work,
but yeah I think that ftp upload-import folder idea would be alot simpler, and great.
It's not a lot of work, it's just permissions, and you just need to set the defaults better...
The uploaded folders should be 755, the file permissions look fine if they default to 705...
i'll submit mines later to be on the frontpage as list of sites that use zenphoto.
Anyone who can give a hint or two? I would appreciate it very much.

It is also possible that the images do not have the proper access permissions after the upload.
Maybe notation on upload page of what settings are required for images/directories if doing manual FTP upload so we always have a place to refer to, just in case
