Can't show rotated pictures

Just installed Zenphoto last night. It serves my purposes just fine. I installed version:

Zenphoto version 1.4.7 [2f43bf5f78] (Official build)

The only strange thing I have run a across is that some photos don't show in the thumbnail, just the filename shows up. Even if I click on them to open them the picture won't show. You can see what I mean here:

http://www.quietwind.net/chriskot/zenphoto/Israel-Trip/Jerusalem-Tour/page/3/

with DSC_0410 and others.

When in admin mode, if I look at the images tab all of the pictures that don't show up have the 90 degrees button flagged in the Rotation section.

So, I am assuming that there is some setting I don't know about to get zenphoto to show pictures that were taken when I rotated my camera 90 degrees.

Can anyone point me to any information on how to get pictures that are rotated to show up ?

Thanks
Chris

  • Never mind I found this in the Documentation on this [page:

Vertical or Portrait Images (height > width)

Large portrait image files must be rotated properly or PHP will run out of memeory while Zenphoto is trying to rotate and resize your image. You will see a box containing the name of the image instead of the image itself if the error occurs. (See below for directions on how to debug images).

Zenphoto reads the EXIF data contained in the image file to determine the image orientation. If the EXIF orientation property is set to anything but 1, Zenphoto will try to rotate your image. If the image is a large one the process will fail.

So, I need to see if I can set PHP.ini to handle large files.

  • Well I made the recommended changes to php.ini and I still can't see pictures that are marked as rotated...

I was hoping not to have to resize the pictures, but may have to.

Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Your server may not allow to raise the memory limit. If your server supports you can switch from the GD libary to Imagick as that has better memory handling.

If none of that is possible your only choice is either upgrading your hosting plan or resizing the pictures. Sorry, this is a server limit and not a Zenphoto one.
