Help for updating from very old version... 1.0.3 !!!

I'm using a very old version of ZenPhoto (v1.0.3) and was happy with it until i got tons of spam and... no spam filter. I decided to update to the latest version but I am using an old version and in the user guide it's said that it is recommended to check the support forum. So here I am. Anyone can tell me if I can just follow the instructions in the user guide of if I need to do anything special since it's such a big update in this case ?

Also, in the user guide the first step is to do a MySQL database backup but i really couldn't find the "database backup tool". Can anyone tell me where it is or how to proceed to do the backup ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to make sure to update correctly without losing parts or everything I have on my website.

Thank you very much.

    The database backup tool does of course not exist in such old versions. You have to do a manual backup using tools like phpmyadmin.

    Besides that you should be able to follow the instructions to upgrade in stepts. Depending on what you theme you are using (no plugins in such old versions) you will need to do some work on it as well.

    ahh... so that's why I couldn't find the database backup tool !! >_>;;

    Thank you acrylian for the reply !! I think I was able to do the backup correctly using phpmyadmin. (Hopefully !!) I started to try to upgrade but I've got some php error or warning notices. I'll try to see tomorrow how I can correct those.

    There's also a warning about the zp-data folder. It's about the... access rights ? It says that it's better to put the rights of "some files" of the zp-data folder at 0600 but doesn't say for which ones. It just says that the setup.log has to be at 0644. Should I put everything else to 0600 ?

    Anyway, thank you for the previous reply !

    It depends on the server configuration if all permissions work the way setup wants. Sadly servers are different.

    General info on permissions:
