Hi,
I still use zenphoto 1.5.9 on my site. I haven't upgraded to the latest version yet because I still use combinews to display a paginated list of last added images in my home page and I heard it's dropped since version 1.6.
In my case, I'm not sure galleryarticles is an acceptable alternative, because:
1) pictures are uploaded, edited and deleted on a very regular basis. Having to manually edit or remove news articles is a lot of extra work.
2) news comments and image comments should not be divided.
3) I am not using the blog plugin anymore because I don't need it. I only need to show the last added images in the home page.
I haven't tested galleryarticles yet and I'm not sure if it has the features I need or not.
In my case, being able to implement the image loop in the home page and display last added pictures in a paginated list would be enough. Is it possible? I will consider paid template customization to edit my template index.php file if necessary.
Here is my site:
http://www.aidar.it/Please note that the way pictures are shown in the home page is different from the regular album display (example:

I hope this can be sorted somehow.
Can somebody help?
Thanks

GalleryArticles is indeed no real alternative because it creates extra entries of items that already have entries. And you would need the Zenpage (blog) plugin for it of course. As you see we don't use GalleryArticles ourselves on zenphoto.org.
The alternative would be a dynamic album that contains all images ordered by ID (upload order) or image date. It should be possible to show that on the front page as long as you don't want to have other paginated content there.
I have checked the documentation about dynamic albums, but I am not sure how to include all the pictures in the search results in order to create an album. I can only search by tags, name, etc., but this way I only get a selected list of pictures. Is there a way to create a dynamic album including all the pictures without performing a search?
Assuming you have only jpgs on the site you could set the search fields temporarily to "filename" only (you can set that on the dynamic album settings. To get all images you could for example set the search fields to "file/foldername" only and search for `jpg OR jpeg`. That should get all jpg files with those suffixes.
