Resize of images on upload automatically?

Is there a way for ZP to resize images on upload automatically to a configured maximum value if bigger than that value?

Meaning, if my file is 15Mb and some setting in ZP is set to 5Mb, can ZP resize the uploaded file to 5Mb and save it as 5Mb.

Yes, there will obviously be a lost in resolution, but at least uploading won't be blocked over a configured size and files/images do not need to be resized manually.

Sorry, that's not possible. You can always upload files with FTP.
Other than that you'll have to resize your files manually.

I would recommend to do that with some offline batch resize tool - there are surely lots of them from Photoshop to smaller tools - as otherwise in any case the server has to do the work.

If w"configured size" refers to the filesize upload limit lots of servers have you won't be able to workaround it this way as you have to upload it before it can be resizes by Zenphoto (=server.
  • MMM, that is sad, thanks. I remember in Gallery that was possible and neat because you don't need to bother about resizing manually.

For me it's easy, but we have some nooby users that don't even know what sizes their images are they want to upload, never mind how to make them smaller.

Well, if someone is running a selfhosted website one need and should take the time to learn a few things. We cannot cover everything for them. THat all is too complex
    .
Also if they are uploading fine data huge resolution images directly from the camera the server might simply not be able to resize at all. Especially on shared hosting which those "nooby user" probably will use.
