Why does a theme have the option of # of albums if it doesnt work?

I am new to Zenphoto and I like how it works. My problem is that I want to change the number of albums from 2/6 to something like 3/12. This is easy in other packages and the presence of the options under theme options would make it seem that I can do it as easily as changing those numbers and saving. However nothing I do changes it from the default 2. It saves the value I enter but its totally ignored from what I can see. Is there a way to do this or am I running into a bug? I can edit the php if I know what I need to do it just puzzles me its listed under configurable options if it doesn't work that way. I am reading your tutorial on creating a theme and for now I have copied the basic theme so I can modify it if needed.

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

First it depends on the theme used and its layout. If you want three album per "row" and the layout dosn't allow it because of the space defined in CSS/HTML iit doesn't work. Most official themes allow two albums per row because they take double space of the normal image thumbs.
Other themes like zpMobile does always have one album per "row" for layout reasons.

Same problem if you change the size of the default thumbs and the number per row. Some themes don't allow these options for layout reasons like the Zenpage theme for example.

And in the future it will be even less possible once we release themes based on responsive grid layouts.
