PhpMyAdmin and FileZilla settings for personal backup

Hello, i want to mantain my personal backup in my hard drive, i usually use PhpMyAdmin to backup my mysql databases and FileZilla for folders and files.
Are there specific settings for both PhpMyAdmin and FileZilla tools for a working backup ?

    Default settings always work for me. For FileZilla(and other FTP clients) always make sure that "hidden" files are visible.

    Just to note for completeness Zenphoto also has a backup utility for the database.
