New install on goDaddy, images just show up as placeholders in albums

My installation seems to be working, I can create albums, upload images, change their order, but when it comes time to actually view the album, the images don't show. Firefox just shows a little grey box.

When I click "open link in new window", that doesn't work either. The URL is:

http://conservationfit.org/zp/index.php?album=Test-album&image=DSCF0608.jpg

This is under a WordPress installation at the top level, but I don't think that's an issue...

  • I don't see ImageMagick, can Zenphoto run without it?

Zenphoto runs with GD or Imagick. You need to look into your error logs (ZP one and the server one). It might be permissions again. Some servers do behave weird sadly.

Also I cannot exclude that WP or more specific its htaccess file may conflict with Zenphoto being in a folder within the root. It should work but is not really tested. Maybe using a subdomain on a separate directory will be a an alternative in case that's the issue.
  • So tried changing themes from Basic to Zenpage... and it works! Then I touched some permissions on the Basic folder and now both work. Very mysterious, but I think due to goDaddy somehow.

The .htaccess files for ZenPhoto and the parent wordpress site were not part of the problem (I moved them out and it didn't help.)

So it has something to do with permissions, or something odd in the way the goDaddy filesystem functions. Perhaps they have multiple servers and touching a file causes a resync.

My confidence in ZenPhoto is rising...
