uploaded images - can I make zenphoto add all to database?

I want to convert a number of databases from menalto gallery 2 to zenphoto. I started with the simplest and was successful.

Now I am working on a more complicated, or at least deeper database, folders within folders within folders.

I have ftp'd the folders into zenphoto's albums folder. Zenphoto recognises all the base folders and the images in them automatically, but not the images within folders within other folders.

Is there some way I can get it to recognise them all without simply paging through the whole thing viewing each album as I go? 3,777 images in 336 folders - about 30 folders in zenphoto/albums - the rest further down.

Thanks,
Richard

Zenphoto recognizes on request on the front end when someone visits the album because it is different to other gallery CMS file system based. If you visit the backend album edit tab all should be recognized. Also please read here about image discovery and caching of resizes image versions: https://www.zenphoto.org/news/caching/

  • The backend Album edit is better because you can see how many albums are in an album, but I still had to drill down to show every included album on the screen in order to get them added to the database - I have done this now for the 3777 images in this database (3 short still!) - but what I will do when I get to the database with 800,000 images I don't know.

Probably have to take a different approach. Currently I add the pics and then go through the Zenphoto database to pick up the data from the existing menalto gallery database.

    Thanks,

You don't have to do this manually. It will happen whenever you visit a related page on the backend or you or someone on the frontend.

    Alternatively you can

    • Use the database refresh utility button on the overview page. That will match the database with the file system
    • If yo are concerned of the uncached resized images you can use the cacheManager plugin to pre-cache all images which basically does the same. Also try the support build/master from GitHub as there has been some work on the cacheManager.
  • Thank you, I'll try that with the next database conversion and let you know how it goes.

    Thanks,

Keep in mind if import db data from gallery to Zenphoto that the images/albums on the file system must be present before doing that. Otherwise the file system will overwrite your data imported.
