Just a suggestion - Change the upgrading instructions to suggest (via FTP) renaming index.php, themes and zpcore before uploading the new version. Much quicker and very easy to recover from any problems/mistakes.

We may consider this. If we decide to add this to the instructions it will come with a warning because sometimes changes to for example the database cannot be undone by simply reverting some files/folders.
