Google Maps to be deprecated?

I see that google maps is being deprecated in the future. I use this feature and find it to be an interesting feature on my site. Is there an important reason for this, or is it due to Google.

    I read the release notes and migrated to openstreetmap, which I see is more robust. Thanks
