Install problem

I am trying to install 1.6 which I just downloaded. I am using an older version but am in the process of moving my personal site to another host so doing a fresh install.

When I go through the setup after clicking the link to agree to the terms and conditions I get the default 404 page from my site. When I go to the URL I get this

The site is undergoing an upgrade.

Please return later.

I don't see any useful errors in setup.log, the db was populated just not sure how to get past this point.

I am the "hosting provider" and control both servers, older one was a ubuntu box with no web based control panel which is what I wanted by moving it. The new server has WHM/cPanel for a bunch of customers sites on it, my site has wordpress but that in theory should not matter.

Any suggestions/direction appreciated.

Doug

This not an error. The site is always by default in maintenance mode in 1.6 as noted here: https://www.zenphoto.org/news/zenphoto-1.6/#--setup-behaviour-changes

You can access the backend via yoursite.com/admin and disable the maintanance mode and also the default behaviour. Don't know about the 404…

  • I neglected to mention that during the install it never prompted me to create an admin user, now when I go to what should be the admin url I get this. My URL is https://www.snovalley.com/gallery/admin/

The site is undergoing an upgrade.

    Please return later.

I did try to install multiple times with removing the directory and DB each time.

You actually create the (first and master) user after setup - the install process - completed. After the 2nd page. Sorry I cannot help at the moment what might go wrong for your. I don't remember to have encountered that on any host I installed Zenphoto myself.

If you like try 1.6.1a (called alpha but actually is beta) you find on the dowload page. https://www.zenphoto.org/pages/download/

  • I just downloaded 1.6.1a and went through the install, at the bottom of the install page I click the link to "set your admin user and password" which is

    https://snovalley.com/gallery/zp-core/admin-users.php?page=users

Which takes me to the license agreement page.

This is when the 404 page appears just after clicking the link to "I agree to these terms and conditions".

I never am prompted to create a user.

I assume still no errors in the logs? We'll try to reproduce it.

  • None that I see, happy to provide anything needed.

I'm afraid I can reproduce some installation issues. Please be patient, we're working on it.

  • Thanks, really appreciate the help.

It should be fixed. Please try the Support build again.

  • I just tried a fresh install, when I get to this page and click on "I agree to these terms and conditions"

    https://snovalley.com/gallery/zp-core/admin-users.php?page=users

I then get the wordpress default 404 page, this is the associated URL.

    https://snovalley.com/gallery/zp-core/license.php?licenseAccept&XSRFToken=7b94e4b1b3d5f46c566080344a4d5c8358b1e684

I can send the screen shots or whatever else you might need.

You did use the support build aka 1.6.1b? If you have installed ZP within a folder within the WP install something on WP may overpower something.

  • Ok I was able to get it working, here is what I did.

I installed on what is essentially a blank cpanel install, worked perfectly.

I tried renaming .htaccess and putting in a default one on my actual site, no luck but a different error not the useless wordpress error page.

I opened a ticket with cpanel explain what is happening, they looked at things and a couple back and forth exchanges I ended up disabling all the security in the WP Toolkit to do the install and then enabled again.

I now have a fresh install so can move my albums over from my old server.

Thanks again, I hope this helps someone else so to speak...
