PHP locales

Hi,

I'm using ZenPhoto for the first time. Installation steps are pretty straightforward since I'm used with others CMSes.

But... I'm on a shared hosting platform and I get this error message on system check :

PHP setlocale() failed Warning!
Locale functionality is not implemented on your platform or the specified locale does not exist. Language translation may not work.

So I had a chat with the provider and the rep told me the server I'm on don't have PHP locales installed and a request has been made to install these.

My question is : Meanwhile, can I install without locales so I can begin integrating my content? Or will it be a mess afterwards to manage langage since my website plans to be single langage (french canadian).

Thanks and sorry for my english; I'm doing my best to make sure you guys understand.

Steve

    Yes, you can start using it. If you don't plan to have a multilingual site anyway, you don't need to bother about the locales ifself. You can just fill in your text content directly. Technically that is then US English (the default of ZP).

    For SEO reason you should still choose your language (if it is available, no matter if the static translation works) as the HTML meta data otherwise notes the wrong content language.
