# in filename

We are finding that many already uploaded images have a hash # in the filename. and therefore don't show up.

Is there some place in the code that we could alter to allow hashes in the filenames, rather than having to change them all?

Thank you,
Richard

Hashes # are actually part of URLs as anchors ("jump marks" tied to the id attribute of an HTML element or formerly the name attribute in old HTML versions). I am not sure it is possible at all, at least I never tried any filename containing it ever…. In any case there is no actual setting to allow or disallow in Zenphoto at all.

I am sure we already recommend to avoid all special chars in filenames. It really makes your life (and that of your visitors) so much easier in many places.

  • Yes - I am sure you are correct but when one has an existing collection, many of which have hashes in the filename then something has to be done - until migrating to Zenphoto the hashes never caused any problems.

    I was just hoping!

    Thank you,
    Richard

Just tried and it does also not work locally, the filename is truncated at the # char. We'll can take a look where this might be but I really recommend to avoid that char.
