Max file upload

First time installer - via cPanel Softaculous - first time user.

Already I'm failing because my images are too big. The limit is quite small, maybe enough for smartphone snaps but not for serious photos.

So I need to hack into the code and set this to a higher limit? There's no setting to change this in the admin interface?

Obviously I'd RTFM if there was one...

Thanks for any help.

If you are referring to the file upload size you have to contact your host. That is a server side limit.

  • Found out how to do that now. Still other problems getting files to upload though... Some do, some don't. Some are corrupted.

You are lucky if your host allows changing such values.

For the other problems review the debug log.

And here is the Manual, by the way.

Images limits are set im Options --> Image tab.

If you have problems with uploads check logs for your website on your server and check with your host.

  • Thanks, yes, I was able to change the file upload limits myself. I didn't even have to bother my host once I knew what I had to do.

I think the hint on the upload page could be a clearer. I did look at the user guide but it is not very well presented. I need to look through pages of random articles. I even tried searching.

I will continue to try Zenphoto as it looks as if it may do what I need. But I will be back with more questions!

I am not really sure as we have this already:

The maximum size for your total upload is xMB which is set by your PHP configuration post_max_size.

Since you are self hosting you will sadly need to (and should) have some at least general knowledge about server related things like this. PHP is naturally a server side setting. We can add "your server's PHP configuration" if that perhaps help though.
