resize speed not fast enough?

I am running zenphoto OK, except for one problem. Every time I create a new album, and view it for the first time, the image is not displayed. If I try "previous" and "next" again or click the "reload" buttom, I can see the image. After that, I can always see the image. But if I delete the resized image in the cache directory, the same problem occurs again. It looks like the resize speed is not fast enough for display. Is there any way I can do to avoid this problem? Or if I can disable the resize function except for the thumbs?

  • Here are the ways you can make it faster

1)get a faster server with a faster CPU and faster/better/more RAM. Zenphoto processes the images which means it is using server resources. If the resources are slow, so will Zenphoto.

Resize/shrink your images before you upload them. The smaller the images the faster zenphoto can put them into ram and process them and resize them.

There is a generate script posted on this forum for generating all your thumbnail and resized images, if you want to get rid of the slow first times, run that first right after you upload them.
  • Thanks a lot. I am using the third way, it works fine. The showed image is directly linked from the original directory when no resizing is needed. Actually, processing thumbnails didn't bother me, it's pretty fast. So I change MAX_SIZE=150 (the value > thumbnail size but < image size) to avoid resizing for images.
  • Chilifrei64,

Any chance you could post a link to that script mentioned? Thanks.
